Third Trimester Begins!

Today marks the beginning of my third and final trimester in this pregnancy! I cannot tell you how excited I am!

Number one, this brings us 12 weeks closer to meeting little Baby Duffy! Tim and I are so anxious we cannot wait! We look forward to this new stage of our lives and the challenges and joy it will bring.

Number two, I am almost done! I am sorry to all of you out there that love being pregnant, but I am not one of them. And as I start this final stage of pregnancy and I get bigger and more uncomfortable, the more I cannot wait to get back to a somewhat normal state in my body! I know it will take some time after to really get back to normal, but I cannot wait to get back to a workout regimen where I can sweat and run and feel good about myself versus feeling like a big fat blob!

Number three, wine is waiting for me at the end of the tunnel! Wine, champagne, martinis! The freedom to have a drink without feeling guilty about it! Oh, I so cannot wait!

But of course, the most important one of all is Baby Duffy coming into this World!

So at 28 weeks, Baby Duffy should be about 2 1/4 pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and 14.8 inches long. She is knocking around inside of my belly like a Mexican jumping bean! I swear she is making up her own little office in there to take charge and let her parents know that she has some big plans when she comes out!

I on the other hand have been pretty quiet this week! I have been trying to lay low to combat this cold and reenergize myself. I am finally feeling somewhat better so I am going to get back to my workout regimen this week! I received some good news on Friday, I passed my Glucose test, so no gestational diabetes!

I ordered the baby sheets yesterday from a local boutique. They are custom - a light lilac pattern for the bumper and a darker grape color for the skirt and ties which should be a nice contrast with the charcoal grey glider we are ordering. I hope it all comes together beautifully!

I am tired!

This week has been tough, I am feeling tired and sluggish! My Doctor told me yesterday I probably wore myself out this past weekend in Chicago and this is my body's way of telling me to slow down! Monday I was having a little feeling of pressure in my belly - another thing my Doctor says is a sign I need to chill! This cold I have had is still going on....blah, blah, blah!

So, I am resting for the remainder of the week as much as I can. No workouts (even though I need yoga) and minimal walking!

I wish I could sleep better!

And I am just about to enter the third trimester....I wonder if some of this exhaustion is coming from that!

Oh fun times!

Is that an Alien in your belly?

All day long today, I have been watching my stomach move around all over the place. Sitting at the Doctor's office, waiting for my lunch takeout, everywhere I go, the baby is wanting to come out and visit because she is making lots of waves with my belly. This is the first time I have noticed major movements of my belly from the outside. I am trying to make out if it is an arm or a leg or what, but it is really funny! It looks like an alien moving around in there!

This is definitely one of the more fun parts of being pregnant!

I am a clutz!

Today has been a day....I started it by fasting for my Glucose test which I had to do at 10 this morning. Then after the appointment, I went to work at Tim's office in Beverly Hills. As I was walking down the street to get a coffee and something to eat (I was in need of some fuel), I wiped out on the concrete sidewalk - somehow my sandal slipped and my whole body fell forward. I landed on my knee and hand and I think managed to protect my belly! As I managed to get myself up, I saw the damage I did to my knee....a scrape the size of a baseball with blood running down my leg. I had to hike it down Beverly to find a pharmacy to tend to the ouchy as soon as possible!

After all of that, and then getting my final tooth fill from my root canal, I managed to get myself home safe and sound. Once I was here, I spilled half of a liter of water all of my living room table!

Ok, I think the universe is telling me to sit down and chill!

Ok universe, I am listening!

Psoriasis of the scalp?

Oh my, I am having so much fun being pregnant! A root canal, morning sickness and now possibly Psoriasis? I went to the dermatologist today to check out a small patch of my scalp that has been itching and dry since about April. The diagnosis - it could be Psoriasis. WTH??

I have never had it before and no one in my family has it that I am aware of!

I get the results of the biopsy back in a week so we will know for sure then, but seriously, I hope this goes away and does not turn out to be a big deal. Apparently, psoriasis can get better while pregnant....but I get it when pregnant...

Yippee, tomorrow I get to give blood for my gestational diabetes test. So excited!

My husband rocks!

There are those times in life where your husband does something so sweet and thoughtful that it just leaves you speechless. I came home from Chicago yesterday and found that my husband had a little surprise for me. The office soon-to-be nursery door was shut so when I opened it I found that Tim had taken all of the office furniture out and started making room for the nursery. He unpacked and set-up all of the baby items we have received so far, cleaned out his bookshelves and moved several pieces of large furniture to the garage. He did all of this without any help and without me even asking him to do any of it. I thought this would be something we would both work on together come September, but what would probably have been a week long job he got done in one day. And it was just awesome!

I apologize to Tim right now for all of the craziness I have shown him during this pregnancy! For he really made my whole month by doing such a wonderful thing for me. It was really nice and it was sweet that he wanted to start getting things ready for the baby! It just touched my heart in so many ways!

Pix are above of the soon-to-be nursery including the view of the Ocean Baby Duffy will have. We have lots still to do - order furniture, paint, decorate - but we are seriously so far along I feel super good about it.

Tim - you are amazing!

My dessert in take for the weekend!

I am still enjoying the act of eating sweets every day of this pregnancy. While I am not craving anything specific in the food realm, I am craving ice cream and chocolate on a daily basis...sometimes eating a few desserts in one day. I am fearful of the affect it is having on my body but I am trying not to think about that right now.

Here is a rundown of what I have been eating over the past few days:

1. Thursday: oversized house cookie (everything in it) from a coffee shop
2. Friday: a chocolate malt shake from Pot Belly's in Chicago, of which I sucked down in about 5 minutes
3. Saturday: amidst a hot day, we went to Margie's - an old-fashioned ice cream parlor - and I ordered the banana split with mint chocolate chip and chocolate ice cream (3 scoops) with hot fudge and whip cream. And I ate it all....pix is above.
4. Sunday: After landing in LA, I made Tim go to McDonald's for a medium chocolate shake
5. Monday: I ordered lunch in and got the chocolate mousse cake - just a slice - but it was huge and I ate almost the whole thing

There you have it...my chocolate intake for the last 5 days...now, what can I have for dinner!

I take it back!

About a week and a half ago, I was complaining about the weather in LA. Cooler than normal summer temps and cloudy skies - it was pretty depressing! I was so happy to spend a week in the sweltering heat of Chicago!

After a week in the sweltering heat in Chicago, I take it all back! I was melting!!!! I am so happy to be home where the breeze is constant and the humidity is low. I only have air in my bedroom but I have no problem staying here all day and even going outside is not like walking into a sauna!

I got so hot this past weekend that I felt sick and needed to douse myself with water. I think I just overdid it, walking around the city in 100 degree temps (pix above is from my rental car dash on Friday). I had a great time and a few days of the heat was good, but I forget I am already overheated from baking a baby all day....so I will enjoy the cooler days at the beach here in LA!

27 Weeks - One More Until the Third Trimester

I have reached 27 weeks this week!!! I am getting there! All of a sudden the closer we get, the longer it still seems! 3 months still seems a long way away. People think Tim and I are crazy because we both want the baby to come as soon as possible! We are both excited and ready! Or at least we think we are=)

All is going well at 27 weeks. Baby Duffy is measuring in at almost 2 pounds (about the size of a head of cauliflower) and 14 1/2 inches long when she is outstretched. Her movements continue to become more impactful and strong and I am pretty sure she is experiencing the hiccups here and there!

I have a check-up this week at the Doctor and have to take my gestational diabetes test....crossing my fingers that goes well. Overall, I am feeling pretty good still although I have started to feel my legs cramping up more and I am desperate for a massage. I am super tired today, after a week of travel and very little sleep over the weekend. I am finding sleep coming a bit more harder these days and last night I had to resort to my body pillow to really get comfortable.

I am home now for a few weeks and looking forward to taking it easy and sleeping in my own bed!

Colds and pregnancy do not mix well

I have been sick for four days. It started with a sore throat, moved into coughing and now I have an overactive runny nose, red eyes and I am tired! I try to take some tylenol and occasionally Sudafed, but this is annoying! I don't sleep well and I just want to feel better!

Just thought I would share!!!

The good news, baby Duffy is kicking like a crazy Irish Dancer these days!

My Chicago Shower

My mom along with my mother-in-law (and my father) put on an awesome shower at my parent's house this past weekend in the suburbs of Chicago. It was really lovely - a beautiful day on the lake, some great family and friends came out to celebrate Baby Duffy's life and brought us such fun presents including some awesome new clothes for her already rocking wardrobe! I am already getting envious of her closet.

I cannot thank my parents, mother-in-law and all of my family and friends that came out for the celebration more. It was truly a great day and one that really made feel so grateful and happy. Tim was able to join a little later and it was fun for us to go through the items together and see his reaction!

What a great event!

Me at 26 Weeks!

Here are a few shots of me at 26 weeks! After a wonderful shower at my parents's this past Saturday, Tim and I spent a lovely time on the boat with my parents on the Chain of Lakes. It was such a nice way to chill out!

Over the Shoulder Boulder Holders...

Did you ever see the movie Beaches? You know the one with Bette Midler and her friend who dies of a heart problem? There is a part in that movie where Bette is is in a musical about bras....big bras, that hold up big boobs! Every time I think of my current chest situation I think of that movie and wonder where I can get myself some of those Over the Should Boulder Holders as she calls them in the movie!

Seriously, some women complain about stretch marks, some complain about vericose veins...I am complaining about out of control Boobs! Sorry if you are reading this and this is TMI, but if you have seen any pictures of me lately you really cannot miss the damn things! I spent my whole adult life trying to make them smaller and here with one pregnancy I have jumped up three sizes. I had to buy 5 - yes, count them - 2 nursing, 1 sleeping, 1 sports and 1 strapless bra - new bras today (this is after the 3 I bought at the beginning of my pregnancy, to fit my ever expanding chest line. I still cannot really see my stomach because my chest is in the way! Seriously, will they ever stop growing. A woman at a store today tried to get me to put on a 40 F....when I did, it clearly did not fit. But it was not too far off. I have proudly stepped into the E category with my big melon friends and frankly I am exhausted carrying them around! and I hear I still have more to come. Oh Joy!

For all of the small chested women out there, enjoy it! Because this is like carrying around not one bump but three bumps all on my 5'2 frame!

I apologize to anyone out there who I may offend with my chest, but as they say, "if you got it flaunt it"...or as I say "stop looking at me, I have no other choice in the matter"!

26 Weeks - Oh Yeah!

It is funny how when you are feeling good and keeping busy you don't have as much time to keep up with a blog about being pregnant! Sorry for the delay in updates, but it has been a busy couple of weeks (well really 6 weeks)....but here we go!

So, I am officially 26 weeks this week! Alright! Time is a flying now! And I am digging it! I told my Aunt Judy today how I am one of those people who just likes to see the results of my work - and I am ready to see the results of this pregnancy work! I cannot wait to hold this little baby and smell her little baby smell. Not to mention dress her up in all of the fun clothes I got this past weekend. Oh, so much to look forward to. Everyone says I will be wishing to be back here when the baby does not sleep or wants to eat all the time, but what people may forget about me is that I like a challenge and I look forward to all of the challenges this baby is going to bring to Tim and I. I honestly cannot wait, and each week brings us closer to getting there! We both are so excited for her to get here - let's see what tune we are whistling come November =)

So 26 weeks brings Baby Duffy to about 14 inches long (about the length of a Hothouse cucumber - which I really don't know what that is) and about 1 2/3 pound. There is no mistaken it...I have a belly and I am looking preggers! And feeling it all over!

Baby Shower Coming Up!

I am traveling to Chicago this Friday for my first Baby Shower at Mom's House! I am very excited to see the Chicago ladies and spend some time hanging by the lake. Weather in LA has been gloomy so some sunny, summer weather sounds great right about now!

We are starting to get some baby things coming to our condo - including the Graco Snap and Go stroller frame for the Graco Snugride carseat in Laguna Bay (blue and pretty of course). Thanks to my mom's flight attendant friends for the Snap and Go...Thanks honey for getting the carseat. Obviously, that one is a must. It feels good to start getting some items for the baby. We are waiting until mid-July to order the nursery furniture and bedding (which of course we have to go with the higher priced items). We found a David Netto crib that we really like and a Grano Glider/Recliner that we have to have. And for bedding, we are going to order a custom set from a local store here in LA.

Really excited to get this going!

25 Weeks - Happy Fourth of July!

This past week has gone by so quickly I realized I had not posted anything since last Monday. So here we are, Monday, July 5th. I have officially reached 25 weeks with 15 more to go. Crazy times. Sometimes I forget I have a baby in my belly when you feel normal and you are in the groove of your daily routine. I like this...hopefully I can keep this up as we get close to the third trimester.

All is going well here, stomach is growing a little bit here and there (I will get a new belly shot this week). My chest continues to grow too, something I am not very happy about. I still have good energy, enough to throw a Fourth of July party at our place yesterday for about 50 people. I am not going to lie, I am exhausted. After being on my feet all day, making food and cupcakes and a blueberry pie from scratch and keeping up with everything, I took today to relax and lay down. The party was a success, but I think that will be my last one for a while!

Baby Duffy is about 13 1/2 inches long and weighs about a pound and a half (the size of a rutabaga). She is getting more active, today my stomach looked like there was a marching band moving around in there. Coco laid her head on my stomach and seemed to enjoy getting knocked around.

I am off to Chicago at the end of the week for a baby shower at my mom's house. Very excited.
